Can I sue for permanent hair damage done at a beauty school salon?

2 views 3 answers
My child received hair straightening services at a beauty school salon. I paid $25 upfront for the services. I did not sign or agree to any waiver of liability on the part of the beauty school. My child's hair was permanently damaged by an overheated hair pressing comb. The type used was the manual type which is placed into an oven and heated. There is no way of monitoring the temperature of the appliance and my child has suffered severe hair loss and humiliation due to this. May I sue the beauty school for damages and pain and suffering?

Yes, you and your child have a claim, but you may have a hard time finding an attorney that is willing to take the case, if the damage is not permanent; meaning that the hair will grow back. Consult with a personal injury attorney in your area. The initial consultation should be free. Good luck.

Yes, you have the right to bring a claim on behalf of your daughter. Whether you would legally prevail and whether the harm to your child would justify a claim are impossible to determine based upon the facts as stated. You should consult with a local and qualified attorney asap. Do not speak with the salon or their insurance carrier. Take photos of your daughters hair and scalp, and get all appropriate medical treatment. Good luck.

You may have a claim but hopefully hair will regrow before long and it will hopefully not e worth pursuing (provided the hair grows back). http://www.phillyinjurylawyer.com/
