Can I take care of my husbands matters when he dies or do I need a Trust lawyer?

We have a revocable trust in place. Our trust lawyer died, with no one designated to take over his clients. If one of us dies, can the other settle affairs without a lawyer? I am Trustee for husband's Trust and our daughter is trustee for mine. Thank You

Without knowing the nature and extent of the property you two may own, together or individually or in trust, and without seeing the terms of the trust, there is no way of answering. The thing you need to do is get your file from that deceased lawyer's office and take it to new estate lawyer near to you who you both chose to answer these questions. Usually when a lawyer dies there has been some arrangement made in advance for clients to be notified and come pick up their files. You should do that. If nobody contacted you then try to contact his or her court appointed executor, if there was one, or if not his or her or spouse, and ask to get your file. The file generally belongs to the client and the original will and trust instruments especially so.

Attorney Kalamaros is correct. It should be a relatively minor inconvenience for you to pick up your file and move it to any trust lawyer of your choice.

If it helps, you can call the Wyoming Bar Association in Cheyenne to assist in confirming that arrangements have been made for the clients of your late attorney.
