Is it wise to wave my claim to my mother's inheritance before my grandmother has passed away in order for her house to be sold?

My mother passed away about a year ago. She was power of attorney for my grandmother's will. Now my aunt is power of attorney. I am being asked to wave my claim to my mother's inheritance because my grandmother's house is in the process of being sold.

I don't see any reason why your inheritance from your mother's estate has any effect on your grandmother's house. Is your mother's name on your grandmother's house? I would contact an attorney before doing anything like this and have your aunt explain why waiver is necessary.

I agree with the previous answer. You need someone to give you a *reason* to disclaim your inheritance.

Dear Connell, If a cow jumps over the moon, will Mars turn from red to blue? In what you've said so far, your waiving your mother's inheritance has nothing to do with your grandmother's house being sold. I suggest that without your aunt's further reasonable explanation & your consulting an attorney (ie, your attorney, not your aunt's attorney), you politely decline your aunt's request.
