What is the statute of limitations for a judgement against a driver's license in FL?

A relative had an accident in FL 1989/90 and was not at fault. No Ticket was issued. Moved to GA three years later and got a drivers license. A year ago the GA DMV cancelled the license due to a judgement filed in the state of FL in 2002.

Judgments are good for 20 years in FL, if they are filed and re-recorded right. Sounds to me like there is a big mistake here, a few of them. It's hard to give complete answers without knowing all the facts that may come into play.

I had a client with the (almost) exact situation (she actually got a ticket but was found not guilty and therefore not at fault). But the judgment was entered because of a lack of response when served with the papers which ultimately led to the judgment. There are rules for service (of the complaint/lawsuit) that must be met for the judgment to be valid. Certain things may be done to challenge a judgment, however, many of them have time limitations which most likely have already passed. As the other attorney mentioned, more information would be needed in order to advise you as to what options you may or may not have at this point. If there is no way around it, if the person sets up a payment plan with the person/agency that got the judgment, they can agree to have the DL suspension lifted. An attorney may be able to assist in negotiating a settlement or request for setting up a payment plan with the people who have the judgment. I know it seems awful to think that's the only choice given the accident wasn't their fault, but unfortunately I can't stress it enough how important it is to deal with things in the moment. Time restrictions can be extremely harsh, especially if it's the case here. That being said, an attorney may be able to help because there are still arguments that can be made for equitable reasons, even if technically there is no recourse.
