Tickets for expired inspection & no insurance card...now I have warrants & suspended license

3 views 2 answers
I have outstanding tickets due to expired inspection sticker & not haviing my car insurance papers on me at the time so a 2nd ticket was issued (My insurance was expired at that time as well). I never went to court to resolve this but did call to try. When I attempted to pay the tickets I was told I could not because there was an outstanding school fine & that if I mailed it anyway my money order would be returned. Since then my driver’s license was suspended and I now have a warrant for my arrest. I am disabled with a limited income and do not know how I can afford to pay it all at once. Im afraid to go to jail. & I need my driver’s license reinstated. (was driving in the 1st place at the insistance of my mental health caseworker who was supposed to be helping me) What can I do?

There is a bench warrant for failing to appear in court. Many of these issues would have been resolved if attempts were made to resolve them when they occurred. Example-most DAs will drop the charge of not having insurance and proper inspection if you return to court with the car inspected and proper insurance. I am uncertain regarding what you said about not being able to pay because of a school fine. You should get insurance, get the car inspected and get your bench warrant lifted. My experience is that they will simply lift the warrant unless there are more significant charges that you are not sharing. Often a payment plan can be arranged in which you can pay on a monthly basis. Michael L. Doyle (215) 735-5900

As Attorney Doyle states above this problem should be easily remedied by contacting the court, providing the appropriate papers and scheduling a hearing. http://www.phillyinjurylawyer.com/
