CA Divorce. When does health coverage end?

Can someone clarify? Generally, does health insurance from the ex spouses employer end right after the final Dissolution? I thought for some reason they had to keep me on for six month after the final date.
Generally, your coverage by your spouse ends on the entry of the divorce. The company usually has to offer you COBRA coverage at your cost for a period of, I believe, 18 months. COBRA coverage is generally expensive and in most cases my client has been able to find adequate coverage elsewhere at a cheaper rate. The reason is, your spouses coverage is normally subsidized by his company. Your coverage is not subsidized and therefore you pay for all of your coverage, not just a part of it. Since you are divorced, the company is not required to pay any part of your coverage.
California Health Care benefits you receive from your ex are terminated as of the date of your dissolution of marriage. As per COBRA, the insurance carrier has to offer you coverage at their normal pricing for an additional 18 months if you request the same.
