Transfer from G4 visa to H1b visa

Hi, I'm currently on G4 visa with an international organization. My contract will end at the end of Oct. 2012. I have got an offer from a company which can sponsor H1b visa. I have a few questions on this: 1. When shall I/my new employer file for H1b visa application? 2. Is there a way for me to stay on with the current international organization with G4 till end of Oct. 2012 and start work for the new employer right after that? 3. Do I need to leave the US for the change of status from G4 to H1b? Thanks.

1. Your new employer can file the H1b now 2. You can stay on until end of October if that is when the contract ends and your visa expires and then start with your H employer 3. No

When does your G-4 expire? Your new employer should file now as the cap numbers are moving fast

1. ASAP. H-1B visas are being used up very fast this year. In just three weeks more than one third of them have already been allocated. 2. Depends on the drafting of the I-129. 3. Only if your G-4 ends before your H-1B begins. You should retain an experienced immigration lawyer to review all the facts and advise you accordingly.
