I reside in an apartment and am renting out my extra room, the person I rented out to has not paid his share of the rent. What am I suppose to do in this situation?

While the previous attorney's answer is generally correct, keep in mind that under the Los Angeles Rent Stabilization Ordinance ("LARSO") you are a LANDLORD by definition. If your subtenant gets a smart attorney, he or she might be able to beat the eviction if you haven't adhered to every provision of the LARSO. Now, this probably won't come up, but you might want to think about retaining a landlord-side eviction attorney to take care of this for you.
