I was in a dark parking lot in between two cars urinating with nobody around, when a unmarked police car pulled up next to me. On the ticket it says urinating in public when the club acrossed the street has a restroom. What time of penalties and fine am i looking at?? Will i have to register as a sex offender, if so is there anyway to fight it. The police officer said she would write me up for an open container like they were doing for my friends but when she handed me the ticket she said i decided to write you up for urinating in public. The ticket doesnt say lewd conduct, or indecent exposure. It just states that i was urinating in public

Public urination is not prohibited by the Penal Code although many cities and counties may have ordinances prohibiting such activity. If you violated such an ordinance it is an infraction and punishable only by a fine. There is no requirement of sex registration.

Your lucky that you were only cited for urinating in public, which is an infraction under your local county ordinance. Had you been cited and convicted for indecent exposure, you likely would have had to register. If you appear in front of the judge and say you're sorry, s/he may reduce the fine - or not.

Take a deep breath, you are not going to jail and will in all probability get a small fine . Often when you go to court and plead not guilty to something like this the prosecutor will offer something less so long as you agree to pay the fine. Worst case scenario it is a violation not a criminal charge if you described it properly. Certain you have court date. Make sure you go . Failure to go will result in much bigger problems. Good luck!
