Is there a way to make a plea deal for an underage drinking ticket without going to court?

I was walking down the street and was stopped by police in Eau Claire, WI and issued a ticket for underage consumption. I had beer in a backpack and was told to dump it out. I said I was drinking and was breathalized so I know there is no arguing the facts. I am afraid that my license will be suspended or my auto insurance rates will go up because of the ticket. I want to try and make a deal to keep it off my record but I live 4 hours away in Milwaukee. Do I have to go all the way up to Eau Claire to take care of this or can it be done another way? This is my first run in with any kind of law enforcement. Also if it matters I am 19 and was stopped on UW Eau Claire's campus. Thank You.

If this is a civil ordinance violation you have a right to appear by counsel at all proceedings. This means that an attorney may appear for your at every stage, including trial so long as you are not served with a subpoena to appear in court personally.

you can also call the prosecutor and see if they will make a deal with you (complete an alcohol class or assessment and they will dismiss) and then you also don't need to appear.
