Hostile neighbors- no longer even superficial civil acknowledgement if we wave and say hello.

Is there anything that can be done if neighbors are hostile but have not threatened you or your property but have tried to slander you to neighbors i.e. yelling about our character to us knowing other neighbors could hear ("and you call yourselves Christians?!!") thinking it would shame us? This stemmed from us having our property surveyed and learning that we own a portion of land that they thought they had. They attached their fence to ours (not on their posts but literally nailed to our posts) to keep the dogs from racing back and forth and protecting children from trying to stop the dogs. We tried to tell them we were not sure of the property line but they did it anyway. When finished yelling at us we were able to calm them down and rationally talk. We thought things were OK.

I'm not sure what you're looking for - you have no cause of action against your neighbors expect as it pertains to the fence. If you want to move your fence to your property line then you should do that - you owe nothing to your neighbors. You may want to contact a local attorney to deal with them. Good luck.
