The answer to your question is that 16 years of age is the legal consensual age for sexual intercourse in Michigan. Providing there are no aggravating circumstances e.g. one of you are mentally challenged, or in a position such as teacher/student. If you are taking time to figure this out without preaching also consider playing it safe. Unplanned child, std or worse you are at a very young age and have your whole life before you. Best of luck.

Not only do I agree with Attorney Alonzi, I am glad that he preached just a little anyway. While we are attorneys, we are also grown adults who were where you are now - sixteen. While I cannot speak for Attorney Alonzi, I can probably guess he, like I, had done some stupid things at sixteen that seemed right at the time but now just really seemed stupid. What I mean by that is that time has a way of making the dumb things we do stand out. What we all want you to do is make wise decisions and not make a mistake that you will still be regretting when you are our ages. Having sex at a young age is one of those things that many, many people later regret. Whether it is a sexually transmitted disease, a pregnancy, or another problem, having sex at the wrong time or with the wrong person has a way of bring out some regrettable consequences. Being arrested should not be the only thing to consider. If he loves you (I mean if he truly loves you) he would wait until you are older. Anyway, I wish you luck and hope you make the right decision.

Age of consent in Michigan is 16 years old, so long as certain relationships are not present. Those include relationship by blood/affinity (but that's just sick anyway), teacher/school employee to student, special education student, and mental incapcitation among others. What I can say, although I doubt it will matter to you but I have a moral obligation to tell you is, you are NOT ready. Not only are you not ready for the emotional issues that come from having sex, you're not ready for the consequences of what could happen as a result either.

The law is clear, 16 is the age of consent so long as you are not related by blood or marriage and that neither of you have any mental issues and neither of you are in a position of authority (i.e. works at your school / boss / works for your doctor) I assume you are like my wife; she was looking forward to her wedding day since she was a little girl. Nothing can be more special for your wedding day than to give all of yourself; mind, spirit and body on your wedding day. Your virginity is something you can only give away one time, and I assume you want your wedding day (and night) to be special. While it will be special now, it will not compare to waiting until your wedding night. All of the attorneys want the very best for you.
