I left michigan on misdermeanor probation

I left michigan 3 weeks ago to go to school in texas and i was sentenced to 9 months of probation. I know when i go back i will have a contempt warrant and might get my probation revoked but i was wondering about what do i need to worry about out of state. I was told nothing would come up because its misdermeanor and i wouldnt go to jail here just when i got back. And if it was possible to get a lawyer and work a deal or is probation set in stone. Also what would it say about getting a liscence and background check?

A lawyer may be able to work it out. The warrant most likely will keep you from getting a license and most likely will show up on a background check.

If a warrant is issued for your arrest out of Michigan, should you be stopped for a traffic violation the warrant may show up and you would be arrested on the spot, teken to jail and have an extradition hearing. I would not assume that probation is "set in stone". You are on probation, you are breking your probation, not reporting and moving out out state. As well I would assume you are not doing your community service or paying your fines, fees, or court costs. Such actions do not make for a probation candidate. My best bet is that you will have yourprobation revoked and you will have some jail time to complete your sentence. As for a driver's livense, you take your chances there on a warrant showing up.

You should speak to an attorney in your area. Perhaps the attorney that handled your case. It may be possible to modify probation to allow you to go to school out of state before things get worse.
