An illegal immigrant in Australia (overstayed a visa) getting married and getting a legal status without leaving the country?

Hello, I'm in Australia for awhile now and I came on a valid visa and overstayed, so that makes me an illegal immigrant. I met someone and I'd like to marry her, will that grant me a residency without a problem? since I entered legally with a visa at the first place? I know that in the US, if someone overstays his visa he can still get a Green Card there if he gets married. However, he will have to leave the country and re apply if he entered illegally through the Mexican border. If I leave Australia I'll get a 10 years ban and I'll will have to apply for an "amnesty" to come back and live with my future wife on a resident status? Or I could just adjust my status from Australia after getting married without having to leave the country?

The posters of this site offer suggestions for issues involving laws in the US. You appear to be asking for information regarding the laws in Australia. Likely, no one here will be able to offer you any suggestion beside stating that you should contact attorneys who are licensed in Australia.
