Auto accient and the insurance company Florida

My daughter was in an accident on Saturday night. The vehicle got towed to a tow yard. I contacted the insurance comapny and when they called me back they said they would not send an adjuster out to look at the vehicle at the tow yard and that I had until tomorrow to move it to a repair shop before they would come look at it. They said it costs them a lot of money for it to be at the tow yard and would not be responsible for any charges after tomorrow. I would think, in that case, they would want to go out and see at as soon as possible. My question really is, can the insurance company force me to move it and can they refuse to pay the charges? I have full coverage and the car is most likely totalled.

Contact your insurance company and let them know where your vehicle is located ASAP. Advise them that you will authorize them to view the vehicle and move the vehicle to a location of their choice if you are OK with them picking the repair location. You certainly have the right to pick the repair shop you want to use. I would suggest then you go directly to the location where the vehicle is located and authorize them in writing to allow only YOUR insurance company access to the vehicle and allow them to move it. Because you have full coverage, your insurance company should handle everything for you. It’s always a great idea to take plenty of pictures of the vehicle before they move it and get all your personal belongings out (including your tag) in case the vehicle it a total loss. If it’s a total loss depends on the value of the vehicle in relation to the cost of repairs. If the cost of repairs are 80% or more then the actual retail value of the vehicle, they will deem it a total loss. Finally, the repair shop you decide to use if the care is repairable, will usually bring the car to their location and deal with the cost of transport with the insurance company that ultimately pays for the repairs. You are under no obligation to allow the insurance company of the car that hit your vehicle authority to move it. I suggest that you let your insurance company handle that for you. Then you can demand that the at fault insurance company pay your policy deductible. Please note that the at fault party insurance company will be liable to you for the cost of the loss of use of the vehicle while the vehicle is being repaired and/or the time it takes them to determine that the vehicle is a total loss. Good luck.
