It is a Class one misdemeanor in Arizona. That means up to 6 months in jail. If this was charged under ARS 4-241, you could also loose your driver's license for a time. If you have the kind of job where a conviction like this is going to impact you, or are in school hoping to make enter certain occupation, then you really need to take care of this aggressively. (I remember helping a nursing student who bought a liquor for her under-aged sorority sisters--obtaining a dismissal was very important because of her pending nursing boards.) www.woodnicklaw.com

While there is a large potential downside, you are unlikely to get jail time. Large consequences which could result in professional hassles at work, etc., are likely your biggest hurdle. If you're just trying to avoid jail you should be fine. Like the other attorney said, if you need a dismissal you need to hire someone to help accomplish that goal. Law Offices of David A. I would say that jail is uncommon in these cases when it is a first offense. In most cases I have handled, the result has been a fine, and perhaps alcohol classes. However, jail is possible if their are aggravating factors, i.e. intent to exploit, large number of minors involved, your age. I don't know enough about the facts to tell you what will probably happen. But if a dismissal is your goal, or some sort of diversion program, you need some good facts on your side, a clean criminal history, some luck, and you are probably going to need an attorney. I don't mean to be a pessimist, but dismissals are very hard to come by, so you should never expect that even when you hire an attorney. Just expect that they will get you the best result possible, under the circumstances.
