Is a prior felony that was CWOF'd, going to guarantee i can not get my LTC? Or is it only a conviction?

The charge was in 2000 and has been dismissed since "01-02. I know each town has the right to refuse for any reason, but i also know a felony conviction makes you permanently ineligable to receive a LTC in MA.. Do a CWOF and a conviction carry the same wieght when it comes to firearm laws?
they have wide discretion in refusing to grant a LTC.
A CWOF, although not a conviction, involves an admission. A firearm license can be refused if you have admitted that you were engaged in criminal activity.
A CWOF is not the same as a conviction in Massachusetts. It is not automatic disqualifier in obtaining either an FID or LTC. It can negatively impact the police chief's decision as to whether or not to grant you and LTC. If the police chief denies your LTC application, this decision is appealable to a judge in the District Court that covers your town.
Good luck,
Everyone seems to agree...a CWOF is NOT a conviction. However, there would be an admission to sufficient facts and there may be an attempt to deny you the license. Remember, you can always challenge this at district court, and you show consider doing this. Make sure you have an experienced attorney helping you navigate this process as it appears to be very important to you.
