Would DUI conviction and resisting arrest conviction be expunged? Will I have to declare these when applying for NZ citizenship?

I was arrested for a DUI and resisting arrest in San Diego 25 years ago and was convicted on both charges, Lost my drivers liscense and was sentenced to 10 days in county jail for the resisting arrest but was released early after 5 days. I have been living in NewZealand for 20 years and would like to apply for ctizenship but they ask about previous convictions in other countries.

It is not clear what you mean by expunged. Nothing expunges itself. If NZ is able to obtain your fbi record it will show the convictions.

Check with an immigration attorney in NZ. You must answer all questions on an application if it applies to you.

There's no way a California attorney can advise you on other states, countries, continent's policies regarding their citizenship application. You would need to have taken an affirmative step in "expunging" the convictions. That process does not automatically happen.

Thanks for your posting. The answer to your question is that, as others have noted, you would be better off, and likely end up with a more accurate answer, from a New Zealand Immigration Attorney. I hope that this helps, but please feel free to ask if you have any further questions. It's my pleasure to help in any way that I can. All the best to you.
