What kind of lawyer do I need?

My boyfriend has missed a court date because of a death in the family he is currently fighting a DUI case that he plead guilty too and now he has a warrant for missing the date. He doesn't know I'm doing this and I'm desperate because I'm pregnant with his child and I want him to be around . He is a good person but has made mistakes I am wondering if it's possible to retain a free lawyer willing to work with us because he is the only only one that works and we have an apartment together and lots of bills . Is there anyone willing to take this case?

Although lawyers are paid for their work just like everyone else, the amount needed to quash a warrant shold be small.

One way to find a lawyer is by contacting the various bar associations, or calling one of the lawyers if you do a search under the "Find a Lawyer" function. If you cannot find a free lawyer, perhaps your family and his could pool resources to raise enough money to pay a reasonable retainer. Many lawyers will work with you and your family in this regard. He can go to the clerk's office in the courthouse where he was supposed to appear and request to file a Motion to Quash and Recall the warrant. He should bring something to show the court as to why he failed to appear. Since you say he has pled guilty, I can only assume the court he missed was a complaince status date. Most judges will simply quash the warrant and give him a new date. If he was represented by the PD, he can call them as well. www.galivanlaw.net
