Car Wash damaged my vehicle, what do I do?

6 views 3 answers
I went to wash my car in the local automatic wash, and the machine was not acting properly. I was prompted to continue driving forward, but doing so would exit my vehicle from that wash. I exited the inactive wash, and drove back around to try again, and upon reentering saw that I was still being told to pull forward, just as before. This time however, I heard the wash sound as though it were starting (washing arms moving), and I stopped in the appropriate position... but nothing happened. Irritated, I exited the wash properly, and saw that an 8' scratch had been left in my vehicle, about an inch behind the door. This could have only been done by the arms that I heard seem to start. I tried calling the number listed there, but it is invalid... what do I do?

If you receive no response from the car wash you may want to consider small claims court. http://www.phillyinjurylawyer.com/

In a situation like this, where there is only fairly minor property damage, the easiest and most efficient route is often to contact the car wash. If the number that is listed is invalid, you can try other listings. If that does not work, you may also try visiting there in person to speak to an attendant. Finally, if you can determine the name of the car wash or owner of the car wash, you may be able to look up their proper contact information via your Secretary of State's corporate query service. If all else fails, it may be time to file a claim with your automobile insurance carrier. They may be able to trace who owns the car wash and get the scratch repaired. You may ultimately have to pay out of pocket as a part of your deductible, however, should you become involved in another incident in which your car is damaged, your deductible will either be paid off or almost paid off. This is why people buy automobile insurance.

Try to find the owner online and send a demand letter for your repair. Good luck to you. The answer does not create an attorney/client relationship and is for informational purposes only. Lassen Law Firm 1515 Market St #1510 Philadelphia, PA 19102 http://www.InjuryLawyerPhiladelphia.com
