I'm a victim of documented defamation of character (Florida Suit Code 320). Is there an attorney who will assist on consignment?

I was defamed in a false police report that led to my trial for cyberstalking. At a "good ole boy" courthouse, the prosecutor, a friend of my accusor, knew of the perjury and suppressed the police records at my trial. My own court appointed defense counsel did so as well! Rather than commit perjury at the trial, to secure a conviction without that false evidence, my accusor was allowed to slander me in his testimony to manufacture evidence, in the obvious absence of any evidence, of my being guilty of felony armed stalking. That made it easy for a a jury to convict me of misdemeanor cyberstalking. Thus, I was also defemed with felony perjury. I'm appealing the conviction. I was also defamed in libelous correspondence to my employer. Can I sue? Will a lawyer help me on consignment?

You have 30 days in which to appeal the conviction in Florida. Generally witnesses in Florida are immune from libel/slander suits for statements made during a trial. The prosecutor generally enjoys immunity from civil suit as well.

Appeals may be filed within a certain period of time after the decision to be appealed from is entered by a court. These deadlines are often in the 30 to 90 day range, but they vary from state to state and court to court. They can be found in the appellate court rules, most of which are available online. You will need to see when the final decision that you are concerned with was entered by the court and calculate the appeal deadline. Good luck.
