I need to know what I can do about Slander?
Anonymous3 views2 answers
Yeasterday I was called in the office to meet with my boss, I was asked if there was anything that i needed to tell her or if there was anything going on outside of work to tell. A local mall store had called my boss to say that I was a regular shoplifter. I have never done anything like that, never had any criminal backgorund & never had the police brought in to search me. My boss has not said who called or what store but I read up last night about Slander Laws and I really don't think this was handled right at all.
If somone falsely states you are a criminal that sounds like slander. And if they tell your boss, that is definitely worrisome. I do not know the law in your state however but you should consult a local attorney to get the matter sorted out right away.
It wasn't. If your boss told you the truth and wasn't fishing for a response, then you have been defamed. If you can find out who told that information to your boss, you can sue although if you are not fired from your job, or refused a raise or promotion, I think you will have a problem proving you were damaged. You should see a lawyer rather than continue to confront your boss. The lawyer will likely enlist your boss's cooperation and then you can make a decision from there.
Good luck
