Benefit to expunging 12 yr old misdemeanor?

This is from the year 2000, a nolo contendre misdemeanor 11240. I am reapplying for a DEA license, which I let go sometime in the 1990's. (Didn't need to renew in the practice I was in.) This was before any court stuff etc. I have since moved to the Riverbank/Oakdale area and would like to start a mobile practice. Unclear of how much detail I can give on-line. There is no benefit to expungement for the DEA, is there any advantage starting a new business? Wish I could write to you the exact description of charges.

If DEA analysts tell you there is no benefit for the DEA registration, and if you do not also need CA license, then what is the point? But, CA licensing authorities often expect that the license applicant will have utilized the post-conviction dismissal process, as a sign of rehabilitation. So, it is not so much that the "expungement" (which is NOT a deletion) helps as that the failure to "expunge" can hurt. But that is the State -- DEA may determine that potential P.C. 1203.4 remedies are irrelevant.
