This is my first ticket and I didnt have my license on me so they just took my name and address but they spelled my last name wrong. Does that make a difference?

Legally, no. Unless it is so messed up that they have no way to locate you, they will.

This would not render the ticket void. Remember the police have excellent resources as their disposal to find people and you likely will be found. The best course of action would be to hire a local attorney in Maine and call the court in the county to make sure you do not miss the court date. The last thing you want is a default warrant being put out for your arrest that could come back to harm you.

I agree, the answer would gnerally be no. My quesiton to you is 1) Did the ticket assess you a fine and, if so, how much is the ticket for; and 2) in Maine, does it enter onto your criminal record or is it just civil? If the amount to pay is small and it is just a civil matter, it might be too expensive to use a lawyer for. If there are long lasting consequences to you, however, you may want to speak to a lawyer in Maine about the mater (get one in the town the ticket was issued in).
