B1/b2 visa holder can apply for SSN?

I am noimmigrant b2 visa holder nd currently in usa. I came in usa 2 month ago nd still can stay four month on my this visit but i have a multi ntry visa. For 6 month. I need a socia l security number to open an HSBC bank account online. Because HSBC branch is not available in my state texas. Its hard for me to visit NY or anyw where forg open th account. HSBC do not allow account opening service without SSN or visit br anch in person. I also wish to apply for a paypal master card for my personal use but still paypal do not accept application without SSN. I am in wheelchair. So its hard for me to visit bank for open or maintain accounts by branch. Thats why i Feel comfortable to do staff online but without SSN its really not possible for identification/security reason. Can i apply SSN?
