Out of State DUI Background Check

Bankruptcy and Debt 2 views 3 answers
I am a lifelong resident of California and have never lived outside of the state. About 2 years ago, I received a reckless driving in Washington state while on vacation. So my question is that will this conviction show up on a employment background check. The company is not a government agency or a defense contractor. Do folks out there think will even show up even though they have no reason to believe that I was ever in Washington?

It certainly could show up on an employment background check. However, there are many variables if it actually will, such as what background checking service they use, how extensive the background check is, is it exclusive only to California, etc.… Typically, convictions are easy enough to find. It is best to be honest when applying for a job. If you are asked the question, figure out a good way to spin it into a positive, such as it was a learning experience and I have matured into a better person.
