Most district attorney offices files their criminal complaints electronically, rather than the older style of physically bringing them to the criminal clerk's window. This program is called "e-file". Essentially what that message means is that the DA has filed charges electronically against our husband. Contact his attorney (or hire one privately) in order to get more details. Good luck.

Typically when you get arrested the police prepare a report and send it to the DA. When the DA eventually gets around to reviewing the case, and if they decide to file, they will "EFile". This means they electronically sent the information to the criminal clerk's office for filing. It is very common for your initial court date to come and go without the DA filing the case. Now that it is filed, the clerk will file the case and a court date will be assigned (assuming you did not get a new court date at your last appearance.) This is just the first step in the process. You should hire a local attorney if you can. If you can't, the court will appoint a PD if you qualify.
