Check out the recent opinion in Forest Park Pictures v. Universal TV linked below. It's a NY court but applying CA law, with a good discussion of idea theft in the TV context, although not reality TV. The courts have not been as welcoming to reality TV plaintiffs, but maybe there just haven't been good cases brought by credible plaintiffs.
