In Alabama, there is not a particular age where a child can make their own choice about where he or she lives. The Court is always charged with determining what is in the best interest of the child. However, there could be circumstances that would justify a change in the child's custody. Your friend needs to talk to an experienced family law attorney regarding his situation.
