What legal action can I take on individuals repeating false rumors about me in my place of business?

I was accused of forcing a woman to grab my penis and perfrom sexual acts. At the time there were a total of five people in the car. This lady and one other female went to police to file a report. When asked what happened the second woman said she did not see anything. I was never contacted by the police of the reoprt. I am a vendor at multiple facilities, one of which this person is employed by. I was made aware of the coments made by this individual. I contacted her manager and explained what may happen if this made its ugly head public. She agreed and put a stop it. Now a month later, in a seperate facility the second woman decided to start the rumor all over. I am worried again this may get back to a customer and affect my business. I just want it to stop so I can get on with work.

Have you asked the woman to stop? Before you can take legal actions, you need to know that, damages need to be present. Based on your facts, I don't see any damages yet. Good luck to you, and may God bless you.

You are being faced with a serious allegation, which is easy to make but difficult to prove. Because of the nature of this claim, you may have a good case to show you have been defamed. This means, someone is speaking falsely about you and causing you to be harmed, as a result. I suggest you hire an attorney with good knowledge of your state's laws related to defamation. Your attorney should send a cease and desist letter and follow up with legal action if this behavior continues.
