Do Texas companies have to tell you why they didn't offer you employment?

1. I applied for a position with a TX company. 2. I was called and phone-interviewed by a manager of that company. 3. I was asked to come in the same day to fill out an application and interview with that company. 4. I went in, filled out the application, and waited for my face-to-face interview. 5. My application was taken to HR before the interview. 6. The manager that was to interview me came out and said something came up in my background that wouldn't allow him to conduct the face-to-face interview. He also said that it was their HR policy not to reveal why they did not continue with the interview. Does the FCRA (or some other federal or state laws) require them to reveal what they discovered in my background that kept them from interviewing me?

Under the FCRA, if they denied you employment based upon something that they discovered in a background check performed by a third party, they are required to disclose that to you, along with information regarding how to obtain a copy of the report that led to the adverse decision. On the other hand, if they based their decision on an investigation that they conducted themselves (for example, calling your previous employers and speaking with them), they are not required to disclose that information to you.
