Can I still get firearm license in Massachusetts if I have continued without guilty finding?

9 years ago I got charged with assault and battery on police officer and that was the first time i had ever been arrested and the last time. Does that mean I was convicted of a crime , and does that make me a defendant for criminal offense

If you received a Continuation Without a Finding (CWOF), then this is not a conviction for firearms licensing purposes. If you are otherwise qualified to receive an FID card, then the police chief must grant your request for an FID card. The police chief may deny your application for a license to carry (LTC), even with a non-conviction. If the police chief denies you an LTC (or an FID), this decision can be appealed to the district court that services your town. Best of luck, Dominic Pang (617-538-1127)
