CAN I RE-ENTER THE US WITH JUST THE TEMPORARY I-551 VISA STAMP IN MY PASSPORT?

I entered the US 3 days ago, and I am in dire need of visiting canada. My initial entry to the US was processed in Dublin, Ireland. The actual green card has not been posted to me and I do not have a social security number. Whilst canada may allow entry as a visitor, I am worried that I may not be allowed re-entry to the US.

If your immigrant visa was endorsed with a temporary I-551 stamp then you were admitted to the U.S. as a lawful permanent resident. You may use the endorsed visa to re-enter the United States after a temporary trip abroad.

Yes. You really need to retain an experienced immigration lawyer, whether myself or one of my colleagues, to review all the facts, advise you, given the many questions you have.

The stamp in your passport serves as evidence that you are an LPR in the USA. You will be able to re enter with this stamp. Canada should also recognise the stamp as sufficient and allow you to enter.
