Alien number on copy of approved I140 (not I140 approval notice) ?

I was waiting all these months to get my I140 approval notice through FOIA.I got a response that they cannot locate my I140 approval notice and sent me a copy of the approved I140 instead. Now on page2 of the approved I140 where there is a section mentioned as "alien number if applicable", I see that there is a hand written 9 digit number below the box.Is this the alien number that I need for porting the priority date? Will this approved I140 copy work in lieu of the approval notice to get a 3 yr h1 extension in case of a h1 transfer?

Yes, that probably is your A number ... it should appear on other parts of the FOIA response. ___________________________________________________________ Franco Capriotti - Senior Immigration Counsel CAPRIOTTI INTERNATIONAL LAW [email protected] -- 1-503-803-0055 -- www.capriotti.com SKYPE MULTI-PARTY VIDEO AVAILABLE ___________________________________________________________

What you need for porting is an approval notice.

Each alien, as you already may know, upon filing any forms of that nature is assigned an A number by the Service. In your case the number was ascribed in the appropriate box. Therefore, the A number will be the case's referential point for all purposes as tagged in the government computers for such purposes.
