This a workers compensation matter. If the bill does not get resolved, you will need to file a claim for compensation (Form 30-C) and then ask for a hearing. Further, you should investigate the reason why you had an elevated heart rate as this could have serious consequences first from a medical standpoint, and second, from a Workers Comp standpoint. You really need to speak to someone who handles heart and hypertension (7-433c) benefits because you may jeopardize your rights to collect such benefits if it is later determined that you have a compensible heart condition.

I hope you have confirmed that there is a written report as to this incident? Do you have proof that the Chief called for the ambulance, etc.? Have you formally submitted the bill to the town? Do you have a receipt for it? If yes to all and the town agent does not take care of this, then file a written demand for them to pay it. If ignored, then file for Workers Comp. But be careful as to effects on your future employment.
