This is a serious charge. She may be facing not just criminal charges, but she may wind up in dependency court, also. You absolutely need to consult with an attorney. You may have grown up in a certain way, but that is no longer considered safe for children these days, which means the law deems it can be dangerous. You do not indicate how old the children are, which could be significant. A 15 year old walking to the baseball park alone is a far cry from a 5 year old walking to the baseball park alone. Find a criminal attorney and a dependency attorney to consult with, and give them all the details.
