Is it worth going to court for a speeding ticket (15 miles over)?

I am 61 yrs. old and haven't had a ticket of any kind in 32 years. I didn't notice the 45mph sign where it dropped from 55. I was going 60 and was caught by radar.

You have to ask yourself would you rather pay the fine and deal with increased insurance costs and points on your driving record versus potentially getting the charge reduced/dismissed? With that clean of a record, you would be an excellent candidate to attend driving school and probably get the charge dismissed - but that depends on your jurisdiction. You should at least set up a consultation with a traffic attorney who practices in the area you got your ticket.

Mr. Oliver is quite correct. If you can't get it dismissed then reducing the miles over to 9 or below can help. Try the following. Charles J. Homiller, Jr., Esq. I would strongly advise you to have your speedometer calibrated to ensure it's accuracy. You should at least consult with local counsel familiar with the court you are to appear. Some judges, may allow deferral or dismissal of a conviction based on your driving record and completion of a safe driving program.
