Should I just move or wait until just before the court date?

I agree with my colleague regarding your own goals As long as you are not concerned about the adverse consequences as outlined by Attorney Rafter then you have approximately 4 to 5 weeks You will get a notice AFTER the court date when to move - usually a week after court

What outcome do you want? Protect your future ability to rent? Pay the LL can leave the property with no legal ramification? Just hang on as long as possible? If you just leave, LL will likely get a judgment against you--be able to garnish wages, hurt your ability to get into an apartment in the future (via credit report). If you wait for the court date, show up for the court date, contest the eviction, depending on the court docket, you might have two-four weeks. However, if you have a chat with a local landlord tenant attorney, that atty MAY be able to identify issues either with the property itself, or with your lease that MIGHT be a defense to your eviction. Consider contacting a local Akron area legal aid organization--most have a housing section where volunteer attorneys can assist you with your situation. Sometimes they can stop an eviction entirely.
