You should consult with a personal injury lawyer to discuss the facts of your case.
In establishing a claim medical malpractice, you will need to prove that the dermatologist deviated from the standard of care established for the laser treatment. In addition, you will need to prove that injuries you suffered were a result of the doctor's negligence. Bear in mind that medical malpractice actions can be quite costly to maintain.
Most personal injury attorneys offer a free consultation in order to determine whether your claim is viable.

Probably not a case, unless the physician specifically assured you of a favorable outcome. The scars you mention are typically viewed as risks of the laser surgery you underwent. In addition, the practical reality is that most jurors (and therefore most insurance companies) don't view what is essentially cosmetic surgery in a way that assists patients. Finally, your case is likely financially unfeasible. It would require the testimony of an outside plastic surgeon who would review the record and charge an hourly fee, typically several thousands of dollars simply to get started with the case.

Plastic surgery is subjective and if the result produced scarring or something you were not forewarned about, there may be a case. Contact the A.M.A. for information regarding your plastic surgeon and your rights.
