How long an asylum interview rescheduling can take?
Anonymous4 views3 answers
i filed my asylum in San Francisco, and got the interview date on 30th Jan 2012. But my wife got a job in Los Angeles and i made a request for address change, its been 9 months already, i haven't got any interview date. i applied for my EAD and they denied the requesting stating that your EAD clock has been stopped due to your request to reschedule the interview.
so my question is, are there others facing the similar problem? or is it just the LA center that is taking this long to reschedule my interview.
and how far is this accurate, that they have implemented an automated system for rescheduling and no human interaction can alter or interfere with this matter, unlike before.
You shouldn't have requested a rescheduling date.
The 'price' you pay is that you have to wait ... possibly for more than 1 year.
Sit back and wait your turn in line.
Your situation is normal. The file needs to be transferred to LA. A new Asylum officer must read the file and you go to the bottom of the pile in LA. The automated system is also normal procedure.
I do suggest you maintain contact with the LA Asylum Office to make sure they have received your file as they do get lost sometimes when being transferred from one office to another.
