I am a R.N. at a nursing home. A resident is making false accusations about me (slander). Do i have the right to refuse care?

Can I have another nurse deal with her personally instead of me? How can I protect myself from future issues with this resident. I have never done anything wrong that would be investigated by the board of nursing, but this resident has told management that she wants me fired. I am in fear of my licenses based off of her false accusations.

Work with your supervisor and co-workers to ensure that this patient is no longer assigned to your care. If your employer refuses to accommodate you, you don't have a lot of leverage. You are an employee at will.
