I had no idea i pleaded nolo until i just looked into my case. i did a free background check on myself and nothing came up of that sort. so does it mean that its bad ? and how do i get it off and will it hinder me from getting the job at tmobile since they are currently conducting a background check?

A plea of nolo contendere means that you are not contesting the charges but do not want to say "guilty" for some reason. For purposes of seeking an expungment, it is equivalent to a guilty plea, which means that expungment would not be an option in Virginia. (If the time for appeal has passed, it is almost imposssible to retract your plea and start over.) I don't know why the criminal case did not come up on the background check you performed on yourself. Will this affect your ability to get a job offer from T-Mobile? It depends. If they are currently doing the background check, you already submitted the application so any points on being very careful to answer only the question asked is moot at this point.) In my view, the most important aspect of a background check is honesty and candor in the information provided. Most negative information that your may provide on your application would probably not be perceived as negatively if you inform the employer, as compared to a case where the employer discovers a misstatement or an important omission through its own efforts. If the criminal charges were serious and reflect on your honesty, there is little advice I can offer except that over time, these criminal charges will have less significance and most applications seek information going back a specific number of years. If the charges were minor and do not reflect on your honesty, then you need to decide how best to present this information to a potential employer. Do you really want to be offered a job based on false information supplied to the employer and then worry every day whether your past will be discovered? I am not in your situation and I make no judgements, but employers want to find honest employees. That is often the primary criteria for hiring. Good luck to you.
