Sponsor changing name after marriage but before I 130/I 485 application - what should be the precautions taken?

I am going to apply for my husband's AOS just after marriage using the marriage certificate copy I will receive at court. What name I should use maiden or married? I am thinking of filling forms with my new name but all my supporting docs will have my old name. I want to know the precautions I need to keep as I will apply for name change in my ssn and will apply for my husband's AOS almost at the same time. We will stay at our current address in different cities until either one of us gets transferred to other's city. Will it be an issue?Whose address I should use? I have a permanent home but my spouse will live in a temporary apartment.

Believe it or not, USCIS examiners can figure out that you took your husband's name when you got married, and will tie together the supporting docs. If you are going to take his last name, best to be consistent now and going forward. Anytime a couple has a unique living arrangement, be prepared for extra scrutiny by USCIS. I agree with Franco on this--talk to a qualified immigration lawyer now, before things get too messy.

If you plan to start using your husband's family name ... start using it NOW on absolutely everything ... get your DL, SSN, etc changed. DIFFERENT CITIES?????????? Talk to an attorney before you file anything.

You must use the same name for all purposes. Living in different cities will be an issue. You should retain an experienced immigration lawyer, whether myself or one of my colleagues, to review all the facts, advise you, and handle the case.
