My daughter skipped her DUI court date in Dupage County, IL. What happens now?

My 19 year old skipped her DUI court date (she was arrested and booked for DUI and drug possession in DuPage County, IL). This was to be her third court appearance since the arrest, and it was mandatory she show up. What happens now? Is a bench warrant issued? How will the judge view this and how could it affect final sentencing? Is she likely to loose her license for 2 full years, or until she's 21?

It won't help at final sentencing but it isn't catastrophic. The longer the time before she returns to court, the worse it gets. She should have a local lawyer for both the DUI/DWI and the drug charge, now. Have that lawyer get her back before the court. Chances are that upon her turning herself in to the court a new bond will be set, probably higher than the last one.

Your daughter needs a lawyer if she does not yet have one. More than likely, a warrant has been issued. Do not enable her. It does neither of you any good. If she does not yet have an attorney, she is lucky. A really fine DUI lawyer is in your back yard: She should go see Donald Ramsell of Wheaton.
