Expediting I-765 Employment Authorization

3 views 1 answers
I became a U.s. Citizen this month. My husband has filed a I-765 concurrently with a I-485 after I became a citizen. We want the employment authorization specifically to be expedited. We have already called Immigration to try to expedite the application with a reason of severe financial loss to a individual .Also he is the primary financial supporter to his family overseas. What kind of supporting evidence is usually asked for if you want the case expidited? My husband was the primary breadwinner before he got laid off in January. Currently he has had interviews only because he is telling them that he will have employment authorization soon. Any advice on how to speed up the process? We are in great need of him getting a job.

Sheer volume of applications is the reason that it typically takes 60-90 days for employment authorizations to be approved. Once your case as passed 90 days, you can call and request an expedited review of your EAD based on severe financial hardship. You will probably be asked to provide some additional information via fax to support your position of severe financial hardship so I would get together that informaiton now the time when you need it (shut off or past due notices on bills, demand letters on loans mortgages, letter offering employment, etc.) I suppose that you could try to get an expedited request before then but you probably won't get any result. At 90 days you can also make an info pass appointment with your local office and speak with someone in person.
