What does notice of appearance and request of service of papers mean?
I'm awaiting a judge's approval for chapter 13. I received a notice of appearance and request of services of papers from my primary home mortgage. My payments are up to date.

I agree, but you really should be directing all your questions regarding your chapter 13 case to your attorney. If you do not have an attorney then you should get one, because chapter 13 cases are very complicated and few who file on their own have any degree of success.
