How do you get a misdemeanor assault and battery charge taken off your record for employment purposes?

plead not guilty. It was a family dispute which lead to pushing, no hitting or actual fighting and I was convicted of assault and battery, 30 days with 30 days suspended and probation for 3 years. Totally confused and hurt because I honestly did not assault anyone and now have two job offers, one of which is telling me if I can get the word assult off my record they will still offer me the job.

It is not that easy. You may want to look into post-conviction relief based upon misadvice of counsel regarding entering a plea vs. trial based on two new US Supreme Court cases that were decided in March 2012. You may also consider executive clemency. Seek out an experienced criminal litigator for a free consultation. A good place to start is by going to the website for the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (NACDL.org) Clicking on this link will take you to the part of their site that links you to a map of the US where you can click on your jurisdiction to find an affiliate local organization. There is also a link to find members of NACDL near you. Meet several that offer free consultation. Hire one that you feel comfortable with and you can afford. There is no confidentiality online. I do not believe you are eligible for expungement but you should double check with a criminal defense attorney in the jursidiction where the conviction entered to be sure. Good luck.
