I believe you may have been told incorrect information. The district attorney will not reduce a speeding ticket over the phone with anyone. You need to be sure to go to court or hire an attorney for your court date or you will get a failure to appear. Sorry to give this news to you but it is definitely a misunderstanding. You need to either appear in court, have an attorney appear in court, or mail in your ticket. By far the best option is to hire a lawyer, who may be able to get the ticket reduced. You should not mail in any ticket, except a seatbelt ticket, as doing so means you are simply pleading guilty ot the charge as is, and not getting any relief.
