Do parents with sole custody have to inform the other parent of address changes?

Child Custody 3 views 3 answers
Mother has sole custody. Father has visitation. Mother informed father she moved but refused to give address or allow father to pick child up at their new home. Father has to pick and drop off child with grandparents. Mother says since she has sole custody she doesn't have to give this information as long as the child is available for visits.

Both parents are entitled to know where the other resides unless there is some sort of safety issue. Both parents are entitled to know where their child is while spending time with the other parent. Hopefully this can be worked out or the parents will be back in court and the mother will be ordered to divulge her address. Waste of time and money.

so if the mom will not tell the dad, then the dad will file a motion to divulge the address. the judge will grant that motion. mom looks bad for doing this. also, dad is entitled to medical and school records. 750 5/602.1(e). so dad needs to know who are the medical providers and the school information. dad should also be listed on the school info as a contact and the other parent. if mom persists in cutting dad out, maybe dad could file a petition for custody. how would mom react if the situation were reversed? sole custody means mom makes decisions about education health care and religion. it does not make her dictator and permit her to hide children. but if there is an order of protection against dad, this may be appropriate.
