Do I have a lawsuit with a potential large payout for compensatory damages and punitive damages.

My former employer withheld commissions on loans they claim customers tried to cancel and they had to reduce the fees. I never signed any agreement saying my pay was going to be based on anything other than the actual loan amount. So if they had to reduce any fees my pay would just be a flat fee well less than what my actual commission should have been. We were never able to see proof regarding any final loan fees or the final loan amount. This is a privately held company that funds well over a billion dollars a year in loans. Is this legal?

No attorney can guarantee you what your case is potentially worth. All that any attorney can do is evaluate the basis of your claim and recommend whether it is something they would be willing to pursue on your behalf. I would recommend you contact a local attorney to discuss the specifics of your matter and have them take a look at any documentation you may have. There is no way to evaluate a case on due to the limitations on this site. You may reach the Birmingham Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service by dialing 205-251-8006 and choosing "Option 2." Should you need a lawyer referral outside the Birmingham metropolitan area, you may call the Alabama State Bar Referral Line at 800-392-5660 or the State Bar Association for the State that has jurisdiction in your particular case.
